What specs for a cheap yet fast / reliable home desktop?
Not gaming or doing any graphic work, just want a fast reliable home computer to store things on, enjoy the occassional downloaded film / music on and to store personal photos / music etc. must be fast.
If you’re running xp and you want a Fast Pc, it matters less who you buy it from and more that you avoid a Celeron or (AMD celeron alternative) processor and get at least a gig of RAM. See if you can get a Pentium 4 anywhere with over 3 gig chip and over 1 gig RAM.
Windows XP needs a gig of RAM to work with photos fast, and can handle up to 2 gigs. More than 2 gigs is a waste of money.
