Will a core i7 processor work for my Dell?
My Dell Dimension 5100 is going to be upgraded soon, and I am wondering if it will support a Core i7 processor. Will it take a lot of money to make it work, or is it cheaper to buy a PC with a core i7 factory installed?
No, it won’t work. The core i7 has a new socket, which means that you will need to buy a new motherboard and it needs ddr3 ram now, so you would have to upgrade that too. At that point, it would just be better to buy a new computer. Hope this helps!!!
